The group was established in 1949 and is affiliated with the Federación de Andinismo de Chile (Chilean Mountaineering Federation). About us - Who are we?

Dedicated to Mountain Rescue and High Mountain Safety

The Andean Relief Corps (CSA) is a volunteer organization that specializes in search and rescue in mountains and hard-to-reach areas in Chile. It is the oldest organization specialized in mountain rescue in Latin America 1 and its work is carried out free of charge.

Socorro Andino Chileno is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to mountain rescue in Chile. Founded in 1949, we are composed of expert mountaineers, climbers, and trained volunteers who share a passion for both the mountains and public safety.

Our primary mission is to provide rescue services for people who find themselves in perilous situations while engaging in outdoor activities, particularly in Chile’s mountainous and remote regions. This includes responding to accidents, injuries, missing persons, and emergencies caused by avalanches, severe weather, and other environmental risks.

Operating under the umbrella of the Federación de Andinismo de Chile (Chilean Mountaineering Federation), we collaborate closely with local emergency services, law enforcement, and medical professionals to carry out complex rescue missions. Our team is highly skilled in technical rescue operations, including high-altitude rescues and first aid, often in some of the most challenging and isolated terrains in Chile, from the Andes to the volcanic landscapes.

In addition to our rescue efforts, we are committed to promoting mountain safety and education. We offer courses and workshops on outdoor survival, avalanche awareness, and safe mountaineering practices to help adventurers minimize risks.

Driven by our volunteer spirit and supported by donations, we stand ready to help those in need, contributing to the safety and well-being of both local communities and international visitors who come to explore Chile’s extraordinary natural beauty.

Socorro Andino Chileno represents a long-standing tradition of service, expertise, and camaraderie in the world of mountaineering.
